Odissi Class Schedule

  • Intro Odissi: Tuesdays 1 – 2pm in Kaslo, BC
  • Choreography: Wednesdays 4 – 5:30pm in Kaslo, BC
  • Intro Odissi: Thursdays 4:30 – 5:30pm in Kaslo, BC

Odissi is a whole body conditioning program that builds strength, power and grace. Previous experience in dance is not required in order to partake in classes and sessions.

Odissi is considered to be a form of yoga and meditation as both help to connect the physical body with spiritual energy. Both practices calm and focus the mind while strengthening the body. Odissi involves flowing movements of the hands, eyes and torso together with rhythmic movements of feet. It uses mudras and includes moments of stillness in poses that originate from asanas. Odissi combines powerful and masculine footwork called Tandava, with beautiful smooth and feminine poses and motions called Lasya.
